Retro-viruses are like small capsules that contain RNA (RNA carries out DNA guidelines).

The shell of the capsule is called a “capsid” and is made of a fat, or lipid, rich chemical. Once the virus infects its host, the RNA spreads into the host cells and replicates, causing cell death and allowing the virus to replicate. The virus can then spread from person to person. Disturbance of the capsid lipid layer can render the herpes virus unable to attach to the target cell.
