I think I May have HSV1 (Oral herpes)

The first infection with herpes simplex type 1 often goes unnoticed. It commonly happens in childhood and can be associated with mild fever and painful spots in the mouth or gums. Rarely the eyelids can be affected. Similar problems can present in adults.

However in both adults and children a first point of contact may be entirely unnoticed.

Kissing is probably the most common reason for infection.

If you or your child have any of these symptoms which do not settle within 24 hours, you should see a doctor for diagnosis. This can usually be done on examination alone, but specific tests may be recommended (these may include blood tests or samples from the sores.)

Herpes is not dangerous in healthy adults, but can be a serious problem in immunocompromised patients or newborn. For young infants, patients with cancer or immunosuppression, and pregnant women, it is essential to seek medical advice without delay.
